  • Is there a way I can log in and play?

I have no idea what I can do, but I keep trying to log in and all it says is that it is initializing VFS... and then it says Second Life is not responding and I can either choose to close the program or wait for the program to respond?? I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it just keeps saying that..

  • My account won't login! Help please?

I keep getting that my account is still logging me out of SL. I have been logged out since last night. It keeps saying to try every few minutes and I have. I have also tried getting a new password, but that didn't help either. I use the emerald veiwer. Could someone explain if logging in SL is down right now?

  • Looking for Good Snapshots of SL to Showcase Slide Show

I am looking for good snapshots from all around Second Life that can be added to the Slideshow products I sell. The pictures should be free to use and the creator / owner must provide full copy/transfer permission but modify permission is not needed. These images will be used to showcase the slideshows displayed in my in-world store and also as "default" images in newly purchased and "empty" slideshows.

I will pay L$50 for each image selected plus all contributors will receive one copy of either the 1-Prim or 2-Panel Slideshow for free whether I use your images or not. (Free versions of the Slideshows will not have the Transfer permission that the regular purchased versions do.)

Please do not submit images of others that might violate their privacy and do not submit images with adult or mature content. ALL IMAGES MUST BE G-RATED or they will be ignored.

Preferred image size: 512x512 however 1024x1024 or 1024x512 are also acceptable.

Send all submissions to Darrius Gothly (secondlife:///app/agent/a71769d4-4c5c-44ea-b232-73031fbc9830/about) or via email to dgothly@dgp4sl.com

  • Texturing Clothing PSD File

I had an idea for an outfit but I have never made clothes before. After a lot of practice and frustration, I finally made a template on photoshop, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a print to it correctly. Would anyone be willing to help me with this? Thanks in advance!

Also kids can write stories and send them to :www.greenadventurestv.com. Their story will be acted out with characters they make up. But make sure that it's funny! Thanks for your time,Aniya

  • Torley's video tutorial open request thread!

    Friendly greetings!

Brief background: I started making Second Life video tutorials in 2006 because I found a lot of things are simply easier to show than explain in text alone. This transpired from various independent conversations, including one in which a frustrated Resident said, "I wish I could teleport to your house and watch over your shoulder to figure out how you do this..." and a legend was born.

Fast forward to 2010 and thanks to so many Resis for your continuing support — I've been able to show my bosses that the video tutorials are a lovely thing (aka "CB and ROI analysis demonstrated highly effective value") to continue working on! I've also written a lot of the Second Life help you know today, and encouraged Residents to come together Voltron-style so things like the badass "Numerical Limits of Second Life" page happen.

And now, with the advent of Viewer 2, I'm creating a new generation of video tutorials covering both the NEW features and stuff that hasn't fundamentally changed but may be found in a different places. And, oh, workarounds for brokenness you swear at that I hope we'll fix more elegantly.  'Cuz I don't just feel your pain, I live it daily too since I'm inworld lots. I should continually learn from your experiences.

I'm focusing on tighter tasks so instead of single, monolithic tutorials, in many cases, I'll divide them into briefer parts of a few minutes at most. I often scour SL Answers and the forums to get ideas for what to make next, because what drives vidtuts are hot, real Resident requests.

So, what video tutorials do you want to see?

Along the same lines, how can we make existing vidtuts (and related resources) easier to find? I hate when something is OUT THERE but I can't find it, augh!

What I request of you is especially true if you're a volunteer helper or help friends casually and find the same questions coming up time and time again. For example, with the new web browser-esque focus in Viewer 2, a lot of peeps ask, "What's a SLurl and why should I care?" I did a video about exactly that. And some ages-old questions like "How do I move furniture?" come up, so I'm planning to cover that, too. Think about reducing needless repetition, or as time-travelers like myself like to say, breaking the loop.

In addition to our YouTube channel and secondlife.com/video , these videos will live on help pages @ wiki.secondlife.com, including the Knowledge Base section, so all the useful info is clumped together. Like kitty litter. Wait, I almost regret that analogy.

Point is, you can find the help you need to get things done FAST, then move on to whatever else it is you want to do.

Have at it, this thread is experimental and we'll see how it goes...

  • Sinking into the Ground V2

    Hello All,

Has anyone using the latest viewer had a similar experiance. When on any sim, land type or floor surface i see my Avator sinking into the sirface up to the ankles.

When i am looking at other avators, they seem to be walking on the surface as normal. In addition a frined running under Emerald also see's my Avator up to the ankles.

    Thanks in advance.
