Grannie is the kind of woman who is at home in the battlefield and in the kitchen.  She was the youngest of her 6 brothers and 3 sisters, and became the leader of the Uyghur Clan after her siblings died one by one.  Grannie has been married for years and years to Lupus Digfoot.  Lupus was rather dashing and romantic when he was young, and courted Grannie during the annual horse races.   Their first child, a son, was born three months after the wedding.  Grannie never really wanted to get married at all, which is why Lupus and Grannies father plotted together to manipulate her into marriage.
Eventually 3 more sons and a daughter came along. All of her boys died in raids, and her daughter died giving birth to Prada, the Mongoian shaman.  Grannie doesn't show it, but she longs for her lost children.  She bullied Prada's father into giving her up to Lupus and Grannie.  Prada is the most indulged and loved child that ever rode a horse on the stepps.

Prada is a remarkable young woman by any standards.  At a very young age she began to have visions and communicate with the dead. But Prada is not wise, after all she is only 17.  She is a headstrong and highstrung person who is aware of her gifts and aware that her grannie would do anything for her.  The proudest day of Grannies life was when Prada was given the honor of being the Khans own shaman.

Grannie values honesty and politness very highly.  She is a kind and patient teacher with new fighters.  She is always delighted when they progress enough to beat her in spars.  She does not like bad language and has a swear jar that she will  pull out if she hears even the Khan himself curse too enthusiastically.  Has she ever gotten him to pay one coin per naughty word?  You will just have to stick around to find out.  Grannie is no prude, mind, and likes a spicy story as much as any other old lady does.
